Education Wins for the 2022 Oklahoma Legislative Session

Education Wins for the 2022 Oklahoma Legislative Session

As this year’s legislative session wraps up, EKCO is celebrating all the parents, legislators, and community leaders that made this year’s progress in education reform possible! We recently gathered with Tulsa and Oklahoma City area families to celebrate the success of three major bills that passed that make great steps towards better education for Oklahoma.

The Teacher Excellence Fund, HB4387 and HB4388, allows teacher development by establishing a clear pathway for teachers to grow in their careers while remaining in the classroom with substantial salary increases. We are so excited to see our Oklahoma teachers mentor other educators in their schools and excel in the classroom.

Additionally, Senate Bill 1238 allows transfer students to enroll in their new school district's virtual education programs! Under this bill, transfer students can enroll in full-time virtual education programs that fit their individual needs. This means more kids get an education that fits their unique learning style.

We are thrilled at the progress that has been made in Oklahoma education through these bills. But, we know that they are only the beginning. There is still so much we can do to give every child a great education.

At our Tulsa event at Mother Road Market, we had some great conversations along with food and mini-golf. In Oklahoma City, we hosted parents and students as well as legislators. We dined on fried pickles, quesadillas, dips, and tostadas while talking in between rounds of pickleball, bocce ball, and shuffleboard.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this progress possible and celebrated with us at our Tulsa and Oklahoma City sine die events in May! We can’t wait to continue working with our community to ensure every kid in Oklahoma has the best education choices available to them.
